+++ README +++ This data repository contains denovo assembled Wolbachia genomes and assembly statistics from Strunov A, Kirchner S, Schindelar J, Kruckenhauser L, Haring E, Kapun M. 2023. Historic museum samples provide evidence for a recent replacement of Wolbachia types in European Drosophila melanogaster. Molecular Biology and Evolution:msad258. https://doi.org/10.1093/molbev/msad258 This dataset contains the newly assembled Wolbachia draft genomes and assembly statistics of eight previously published historic Drosophila melanogaster museum samples sequenced with Illumina (Shpak et al. 2023) and of nine previously unpublished contemporary and newly assembled Wolbachia draft genomes that were newly sequenced with Oxford Nanopore technology. All historic samples were comprised of wMelCS Wolbachia variants collected 200-90 years ago in Sweden, Denmark and Germany. The contemporary samples consisted of wMel and wMelCS variants from Portugal and Finland and of wMel, wMelCS and wMelPop variants in long-standing Drosophila lab stocks. AssembledGenomes.zip - is a zipped folder with all assembled genomes in gzipped FASTA format BUSCO_reports.zip - contains all reports from the BUSCO analyses including all predicted gene models BlobTools_plots.zip - contains BlobPlots for all genomes SampleIDS.xlsx - is a table with all synonymously used sample IDs from Shpak M, Ghanavi HR, Lange JD, Pool JE, Stensmyr MC. 2023. Genomes from historical Drosophila melanogaster specimens illuminate adaptive and demographic changes across more than 200 years of evolution. PLOS Biology 21:e3002333.
