Abstract

3D scan of a weaving sword from Hauskirchen grave 8. It is one of the burial goods of a 10-11 year old girl. Iron weaving swords generally occur only in ─ usually richly equipped ─ graves of female individuals and were probably intended to symbolize their rank. Their distribution as grave goods extended in the Migration Era from Scandinavia through England and parts of Germany to Bohemia, Moravia, Lower Austria to Pannonia and Italy.
