Abstract

3D model of the ceramic figurine “Snailmail” from the period of Art Noveau (Jugendstil) which is part of the Uetz collection. It shows a small, winged fairy sitting on a land snail, holding her legs close to her body. A green stamp on the bottom reads "Rosenthal" with the additon of "Selb-Bavaria". "Snailmail" or "Schneckenpost" in German, was presumably designed by Albert Caasmann in 1913.

Karl Uetz (1914–1998) was a private collector and owner of a large mollusc collection. In addition to thousands of snail and mussel shells, the collection also contains approximately 200 art and everyday objects as well as ethnographic objects. The collection was purchased by the NHMW in 1974 and digitised in 2025.
