3D model of a Snailrider (NHMW-ZOO-MO-0081100-ETH-004)

3D model of the ceramic figurine “Schneckenreiter” from the period of Art Noveau which is part of the Uetz collection. Karl Uetz (1914–1998) was a private collector and owner of a large mollusc collection. In addition to thousands of snail and mussel shells, the collection also contains approximately 200 art and everyday objects as well as ethnographic objects. The collection was purchased by the NHM in 1974 and digitised in 2025.

This ceramic figurine belongs to the period of Art Noveau. It was produced in the Wiener Werkstätte between 1911-12. The design was made by Michael Powolny (1871–1954), who was an important Austrian sculptor and ceramist whose works played a key role in shaping Viennese Art Nouveau and early Art Deco.
